Asbestos
cancer
is common name
for building materials that composed some minerals. People using
asbetos mainly for building construction such as roofing, floor
tile, ceiling tile, piping and plumbering, fire doors, fireproffing,
etc. We can also find asbestos at vehicle’s brake system,
cigarettes filters, plastic materials, and many more. Minerals that
assosiated to asbestos are serpentine, chrysotile, amphibole,
amosite, crocidolite, thermolite, anthophylite, and actinolite.
People
has using asbestos fibre as building component since 19 century and
became popular until 1970’s . This popularity decline since some
reports relating asbestos and cancer occurs. Starting from US, the
campaign againts asbetos spreading around the world. Several
countries then restrict even banned asbestos as building materials.
Asbetos-containing
material harm people health when it’s damage or defected because
of weathering. Dangerous tiny asbestos fibre fly into the air and
may inhalated by people. Continue exposed by asbestos fibre could
lead respiratory disease such as lung cancer.
Diseases
related to asbestos exposured include asbestosis and mesothelioma
though there are some reports about cancer and tumor related to
asbestos exposured. Asbestosis is a disease that harming tissue of
the lungs. The symtoms including shortness of breath and countinuing
cough. This disease could lead to lung cancer. Mesothelioma is a
cancer related to layers of tissue that covering internal organs,
including lungs.

Barrack Hussein Obama, former US President, has involved in action
related to asbestos
cancer
in 1980s.
Written to his biography, Dreams from My Father, he and his
counterparts found an almost neglegted building called Altgeld
Garden. This building was build at 1940’s for US world war II
veterans. After several decades this building deteriorated and Obama
and his friends found that asbestos at the building could harm the
residents health. He organizing actions to make the local authorithy
paid their attention to this building.
